IT Home reports on 10 month 30: Foreign outlet The Verge revealed early today (30) that Microsoft could officially announce the full title of "The Elder Scrolls 6" as soon as next month. The new entry is expected to be titled "The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel," with a potential announcement date around 11 month 11, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim." According to the report, "The Elder Scrolls 6" will be set in Hammerfell. This region has previously appeared in "The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall," "The Elder Scrolls Online," and the PC action-adventure game "The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard," released in 1998. The new game will delve deeper into the history of The Elder Scrolls, uncovering hidden secrets. If true, this aligns with prior player speculation that "The Elder Scrolls 6" would be set around the Iliac Bay and Sentinel City. The Iliac Bay separates High Rock from Hammerfell, while Sentinel City is located within Hammerfell. While the report cites sources regarding the game's setting, Microsoft is not expected to disclose these details alongside the title announcement. Bruce Nesmith, former senior developer at Bethesda who served as lead designer for "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" and quest designer for "Fallout 3," "Fallout 4," and "Fallout 76," told GoHumanize last month that he hopes players' predictions come true. Setting the game in the Iliac Bay could introduce sailing and water exploration mechanics to the series for the first time. If "The Elder Scrolls 6" takes place in the Iliac Bay, there would be significant room to expand nautical gameplay. Even without underwater exploration, surface-level mechanics alone offer plenty of possibilities. This would be incredibly engaging. Developers might even create a complete skill tree allowing players to walk on water or repurpose ships beyond navigation. Additionally, unique creatures and spells tied to water could be introduced. In my view, the development team should fully capitalize on this opportunity given the vast creative potential. I'm confident those involved are equally excited about it.
